PERDO

JGSEE conducts the collaborative research among five leading institutions in Thailand KMUTT, KMITNB, PSU, CMU and SIIT-TU. Our research focuses on fossil and alternative fuels, renewable energy, energy management and policy, and environmental topics related to energy.

Theme 1: Development of RDF-Gasification for power generation
(Contact person: Assoc Prof. Dr. Somrat Kerdsuwan)
Research activities:

  • Characterization of RDF from MSW for using as fuel
  • Design and construction of Gasification for power generation by using RDF as fuel
  • Optimization of operating conditions of RDF-Gasification for power generation

Theme 2: Development of biogas-fired burners for boilers and furnaces and advanced combustion controlĀ 
(Contact person: Assoc Prof. Dr.Suthum Patumsawad)
Research activities:

  • Development of standards and procedures for biogas calorimetry
  • Development of imaging/optical techniques for combustion diagnostics.
  • Performance based control of biogas burner via image processing/optical analyses

Theme 3: Spray process and characterization of biofuels: Optical technique developments, simulations and experiments
(Contact person: Asst. Prof. Dr.Pumyos Vallikul)
Research activities:

  • Development of optical techniques: Laser diffraction, LDA, PDPA, Rainbow
  • Development of numerical modeling for spray evaporations and combustion
  • Performance based control of biofuel spray processes

Theme 4: Biogas and Biomethane Technology
(Contact person: Assoc Prof. Dr. Chantaraporn Phalakornkule)
Research activities:

  • Biogas production from biomass using fungus
  • Pressure swing adsorption processes
  • Development of molecular selective adsorbent for H2S and CO2 removal

Theme 5: Liquid fuel synthetic from Fischer-Tropsch process
(Contact person: Assoc Prof. Dr. Phavanee Narataraksa)
Research activities:

  • Construction and testing of two pilot-scaled modified packed bed reactors for catalytic reforming process.
  • Construction and testing of a pilot-scaled packed bed reactor for Fischer-Tropsch synthesis.

Theme 6: Bioethanol Production from Biodiesel-derived Glycerol
(Contact person: Asst. Prof. Dr. Nipon Pisutpaisal)
Research activities:

  • Create microorganisms that are capable of converting biodiesel-derived glycerol to ethanol
  • Optimize the fermentative conversion process of glycerol to ethanol
