Biodiesel Production

Biodiesel is a fuel derived from vegetable oils or fats through transesterification process. The resulting akyl ester can be used as replacement, blend, or additive to petroleum diesel. The goal of this research area is to develop biodiesel production and utilization technologies that are appropriate to Thai feed stock, particularly palm oil and used vegetable oil. The R & D themes covered are:

  • Biodiesel production process development
  • Development of bio-based byproducts from biodiesel production
  • Biodiesel property characterization for engine applications
  • Engine performance evaluation using biodiesel as fuel
