International Dissemination Workshop and Epilogue

Cohosted with the Demand Side Management and Planning division (DSM office) under the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), The Joint Graduate School of Energy and Environment (JGSEE) has organized MECON project’s international dissemination workshop on 17 September 2015 at Eastin Grand Hotel Sathorn, Bangkok, Thailand.

The objectives of this event are to disseminate the final results of the two-years research, to discuss how to implement research results and to initiate fruitful discussions among policy makers, energy experts, and relevant stakeholders from the partner countries, which are Thailand, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Vietnam, and UK.

In the workshop, the MECON researchers presented the key findings of the project and policy recommendations. The workshop also provided opportunity for the policy makers from 5 countries to present the historical views and current situation of the energy efficiency policy in each country. There were two panel discussions, which invited various stakeholders to engage in the topics of overcoming energy efficiency barrier and future collaboration among GMS countries on energy efficiency. Moreover, the workshop included the parallel sessions where MECON researchers from all partner countries could present the detailed research results on baseline information energy data analysis (Task 1), technological perspective (Task 2), socio-economic perspective (Task 3), energy efficiency policy analysis (Task 4), cost-benefit analyses (Task 5) and institutional conditions (Task 6).
