JGSEE offers the following international graduate programs:

Double Master Degree Programs
Between JGSEE at KMUTT and GSES at Kyoto University

The normal duration of the Master programs is 2 years and of Ph.D. programs are 3 years from Master level and 3.5 years from Bachelor level. All students are required to enroll for their first semester of study at JGSEE on KMUTT campus, and the remaining semester may be spent at any one of the partner institutions (consortium).  In the latter case, the students may have their credits earned at JGSEE transferred to a corresponding program of a partner institution.


The Objectives

To educate advanced level engineer and scientists equipped with a mix of fundamental knowledge in energy and environmental technology as well as management, analytical skills and communication skills in English, and a professional orientation.

To nature future energy and environmental engineers and scientists with a sound appreciation of the potential impacts on the environment due to energy production and use.

To contribute to the body of knowledge and solutions of challenging energy related environmental problems in industry or at governmental level.

Eligibility to apply

To be eligible for the Joint Graduate School energy and environment, you must have the following

Master applicants

MSc program must hold a first degree in engineering, science, economics, technology, agriculture or related fields, MEng program must hold in engineering only, with a minimum GPA of 2.50, or be ranked top 25% of the class. Applicants with other qualifications may be admitted on a case by case basis subject to the approval of JGSEE’s Executive Committee.

PhD applicants

PhD applicants must have a Masters degree with a GPA of at least 3.25 and also must have the possess relevant research experience that is substantiated by published technical papers. Working experience is also special considered.


School fee 40,000 bath/semester
Tuition fee 4,000 baht/credit

Financial Support

Research fund

One of the aims of JGSEE is to produce high quality research work. To this end, funds are made available to all students as thesis expenses starting from the first semester that the students enroll for their thesis study. The maximum amount of funding for each program is set below:

MEng/MSc:        135,000 baht

PhD:                   290,000 baht


A number of scholarships are also available for students with appropriate qualifications. A Scholarship that includes monthly stipend and tuition/school fees may be awarded to a student who has a prominent academic record and show high potential for accomplishment. Partial scholarships are also available for those who have very good academic records. This latter type of scholarship may include the support for all the fees, or either school fee or tuition fee. The scholarship recipients are select by a panel on the basis of academic records and financial need.  A scholarship recipient’s academic progress is reviewed at the end of each semester to determine the recipient’s eligibility for continued support.

Type of scholarships:

  1. Full scholarship that covers school fees, tuition fees and living allowance (Master 10,000 baht/month, PhD 13,000 baht/month.
  2. Scholarship that covers school fees and tuition fees.
  3. Scholarship that covers school fees only.
  4. Scholarship that covers part of tuition fees or school fees.
