A Mini-Training Workshop on Wind Speed Forecasting

As the final closure of the 2.5-year R&D project funded by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), a one-day small-sized training workshop was organized at the JGSEE (Bang Khun Thian) on Apr. 28, 2016. The project was implemented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kasemsan Manomaiphiboon and colleagues. The purpose of the training workshop is to share technical knowledge and experiences in wind speed forecasting with interested EGAT personnel. As the key output from the project, a wind speed forecasting system (WFS) has been developed for the case study of Lamtakong Reservoir Area, Nakon Ratchasima Province, Northeastern Thailand, the area well known as having a large wind resource. The developed system represents a first ensemble WFS for wind energy application in Thailand, including four individual models (both statistical and dynamical).
