JGSEE host ASEAN Training of Trainers Programme for Renewable Energy at KMUTT

The Renewable Energy Support Programme for ASEAN (ASEAN-RESP) supported by GIZ (Germany) has commissioned the Renewables Academy (RENAC) to provide this series of training on renewable energy among ASEAN members. The topic of the training in Bangkok was on “Designing a Training for Policy Makers and Administrators by the Example of Training Sequences of Renewable Energy Support Mechanisms”. It follows a previous first training held in Selangor, Malaysia, during 16-20 November 2015 on “Planning Trainings by the Example of Training Sequences of PV System Installation, Commissioning and Operation”.
At the occasion of the training held at KMUTT, Assoc Prof Dr Savitri Garivait, Chairperson of the Environmental Division of JGSEE, delivered a welcome address. Dr David Jacobs, an expert on energy policy from RENAC, Germany, was the main trainer for the event. Thai experts were also invited to contribute their knowledge to the training. Thus, Dr Warinthon Songkasiri from the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology gave a lecture on “Technology Review Bioenergy” and Mr Chaiwat Pollap and Dr Sopitsuda Tongsopit from the Energy Research Institute of Chulalongkorn University, contributed a lecture on “Promotional Frameworks for Biogas Technology in Thailand”.
Participants to the training included 17 representatives from 9 ASEAN countries and 2 observers from GIZ ASEAN-RESP (Indonesia). From Thailand, Dr Surawut Chuangchote (researcher from JGSEE) and Dr Narong Pooyoo (officer from the Ministry of Energy) joined the training. The next and final training of this series will be held in the Philippines in Ail 2016.
