Visit of University Technology Malaysia at Bangkhunthien

On 31 March 2017, the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Faculty of Built Environment, University Technology Malaysia (UTM), led by Prof Ho Chin Siong and Dr Gobi Krishna A/L Sinniah visited KMUTT under the “Edu-culture Trip to Bangkok with King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi”. A meeting was held at the School of Architecture and Design (SoA+D) in Bangkhuntien. Some welcome remarks were first delivered by Assoc Prof Dr Sirintornthep Towprayoon (JGSEE-CEE director) and Dr Acharawan Chutarat (lecturer at SoA+D). A couple of presentations on topics related to “Low Carbon and Sustainable Built Environment” were then given by Dr Acharawan and Dr Pipat Chaiwiwatworakul (JGSEE lecturer under BEST). Prof Ho also contributed a presentation on “Urban Planning and Management of Malaysia and Iskandar Malaysia”. The meeting ended with a number of presentations from UTM, SoA+D and JGSEE students. Finally, all delegates were taken for a tour of the laboratory facilities at Bangkhuntien, including the daylighting laboratory (Sky Dome) of SoA+D, and the solar radiation and daylight measurement station, experimental test bed for alternative air-conditioning in building, and net-zero energy house of the BEST laboratory. The overall event was a great success opening potential opportunities for future collaboration between UTM and KMUTT.
