Joint International Postgraduate Program on ASEAN Energy and Environment

 










On 18 November 2014, JGSEE-CEE has organized the press conference for the program “Joint International Post-Graduate Program on ASEAN Energy and Environment (JIPP)” at Anantara Bangkok Riverside Resort & Spa, Bangkok, Thailand. In this program, 5 participating institutions have agreed to collaborate in JIPP. They are 1) Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Indonesia; 2) University of Malaya (UM), Malaysia; 3) University of the Philippines (UP), the Philippines; 4) Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), Vietnam; and 5) JGSEE-CEE under KMUTT.

In the press conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bundit Funtammasan, the vice-president for research of KMUTT had presided the welcome and view of KMUTT on ASEAN Education on Energy and Environment while Assoc. prof. Dr. Sirintornthep Towprayoon, JGSEE-CEE director, introduced the JIPP. Moreover, the representatives of 4 member universities, Prof. Dr. Iman K. Reksonwardojo from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Indonesia, Prof. Nasrudin Bin Abd Rahim from University of Malaya (UM), Malaysia, Dr. Rizalinda de Leon from University of the Philippines (UP), the Philippines, and Prof. Pham Hoang Luong from Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), Vietnam had also presented their views on the program.

JIPP provide the chances for ASEAN students to study and research on the interesting energy topics related both in their country and other ASEAN countries. This will be done by the mechanism of co-supervisor from member universities. Students will also experience in learning the current situation of energy and environment in ASEAN by competent professors from 5 joint universities as well as at least 1 semester study aboard in one of the member universities.

JIPP is the a non-boundary on human resource development including a network of experts and tool to find solution on the energy and environmental issues with the view of the ASEAN region. Moreover, it will fill the gap on the collaboration on research and development among the universities in the member countries and enhance power of nigotiation and economic competitiveness of the region. Moreover, JIPP is a forum to strengthen research collaboration and sharing of knowledge in energy and environment in ASEAN.
